What’s Hard Travelling about?
Hard Travelling is film adaptation of a play by Jim Brown. Neil Cassidy is driving home to Scotland from France in an old Citroen 2CV van loaded with wine and beer, navigating through heavy rain. Amid the journey, he gets a puncture and has a humorous exchange with the van, personified as Vanessa, who complains about her condition and reminisces about her glory days. After Neil fixes the tire, they continue their journey, but their troubles are far from over. Approaching the Scottish border, Neil is stopped by border control officers due to a recent closure following Scotland’s independence referendum.
What genre does it fall into and how long will the film be?
The film is a blend of comedy and drama, aiming for a runtime of approximately 16 minutes.
What do you need from the wider community?
We are looking for a suitable location in Edinburgh try out our green screen effects before travelling to Duns for the actual shoot. To undertake this we are looking for a private space in Edinburgh, where we can park a car, set up a green screen and lights, in order to film a test scene. If anyone can help us out with this request, please contact Stewart.emm@yahoo.com
Do you have a team in place?
Most of the team is assembled for this project.
When does filming start?
The filming will commence in and around Duns during July with the film being completed, hopefully, by September. The shooting should be completed over one weekend, but this will depend on the availability of cast, crew and Venessa and of course the weather.
