If you ever wanted to make a film but were too scared to start, read on…
Tell us a bit about the 48 Hour Film Project?
The 48 Hour Film Project is Scotland's biggest filmmaking event. Each year over a hundred teams make films with us over four wild and crazy weekends in Edinburgh, Inverness, Glasgow and Aberdeen.
Making a film in 48 hours, eek! What happens? How does it work?
Here's how it works: Teams turn up on Friday night and each draw 2 genres out of a hat. They need to make their film in either one or both of the genres. It could be anything from romance, comedy, sci fi, buddy film, slice of life, monster movie, coming of age... But that's not all! We announce a character, prop and line of dialogue that must be included in each film. The teams have 48 hours to make a film. They write it that Friday night, shoot it Saturday, and edit it Sunday, turning it in Sunday night. All films are screened at proper cinemas to sold out crowds. And we have an Awards Party where we give out awards in every category - just like the Oscars, but obviously way better!
When is it?
We do it every May in Edinburgh, July in Inverness, October in Glasgow and November in Aberdeen.
Do you need a lot of experience to do it?
There is NO experience required to take part! We have a range of teams from first timers to pros. We love our first timers! Even if you don't have a team we can help you find one. We'll help you get involved and see your name on the big screen.
How do I get involved? Who can I contact?
